Ronnie’s skin story | Relief for baby eczema, naturally

Ronnie’s skin story | Relief for baby eczema, naturally

Atopic eczema is among the most common chronic skin conditions we see in our clinic. While it affects 10% of UK adults, cases in children are double that and symptoms start as young as 3-4 months old… as Ronnie and his parents discovered.

We exist to help people of all ages overcome the life-limiting discomfort of problematic skin - creating steroid-free, herbal topicals that are gentle and suitable for even delicate baby skin. Hearing stories like Ronnie’s reminds us why these efforts matter.

Ronnie’s skin story

(…shared by his mum, Chelsea)
Ronnie’s eczema began when he was four months old, following his immunisations. It appeared on both injection sites almost immediately and the red, sore, itchy skin soon spread across his legs, tummy and up to his cheeks. Products from the GP were steroid or paraffin based, so I chose not to use them. My own dermatologist wasn’t able to help, so I instead spent hundreds of pounds on well-known brands trying to find a solution myself. Nothing worked.

“I went through topical steroid withdrawal and am fully aware how bad it can get. Steroids mask the issue; a quick fix that doesn't repair skin. Yet they were offered so easily without regard for rebound effects. I knew from the minute his eczema developed, I would not use them on our baby.”

I strongly felt there should be a natural way to support our baby’s skin healing, yet often felt judged for declining topical steroids, with healthcare professionals even suggesting he wasn’t meeting development milestones because of it.

A breakthrough

I came across Dermatology M on Instagram and an eczema practitioner then recommended Soothing Cream. I was hesitant at first - the cream was more expensive than products we’d tried before and I feared that, like them, it would fail. I’m so glad we bought it.

“I applied Soothing Cream lightly to his face 7 times a day, and 2-3 times on his body - even through the night. We finished a jar in a week but it was absolutely incredible.”

Results came quickly. In just over a week redness reduced significantly. I stayed consistent, gently rinsing away residue before reapplying. Soothing Cream creates a protective layer and I like the green colour, as I can see where it has been applied and if any has rubbed off so I know where to reapply.

“The instant relief on my little boy’s face when we apply Soothing Cream brings us relief too.”

By the end of the second jar, Ronnie’s skin looked under control. But when we briefly ran out, his eczema flared quickly again. I could cover his body and swaddle him to stop him itching, but his face was harder to control, even with scratch mitts. I held him all night to stop him from rubbing his face on sheets. This taught me the importance of consistency, even if skin appears settled.

Ronnie’s now almost 9 months old. His sore, cracked, weeping eczema - particularly on his cheeks - is under control, has improved 80% since we began just over 4 months ago, and his mood and happiness have improved so much. Soothing Cream has truly changed our lives.

“We have a jar of Soothing Cream with us 24/7 wherever we go and will continue using it for as long as we need to. From a family who have been at rock bottom with our child’s eczema, I would urge any parents going through this too to try this cream.”

To help start protecting Ronnie’s skin during cleansing, Chelsea’s also added our soap-free Soothing Bath & Shower Oil to his daily routine - seeing the difference it made straight away.

“An amazing product! I use it in the bath for both boys every night. 100% noticed the difference! Their skin feels so lovely. Ronnie’s skin is so moisturised."

From Chelsea and her family to yours…

As a family, having a young child with severe eczema has been the toughest thing to go through, especially when we felt unsupported by healthcare professionals. The sheer volume of products claiming to help eczema also makes it overwhelming, especially when in reality many of them make our babies’ skin much worse.

“I now always study ingredients in skincare products and encourage other parents to do the same - especially if using them on delicate baby skin.”
