Polly’s Skin Story
Over a year ago, I started experiencing redness, swelling and sore, cracked skin on my hands. My GP prescribed steroid creams and other treatments – nothing worked (beyond temporary relief). And so began months of back and forth with my GP. I was eventually referred to NHS Dermatology, but the wait was nearly a year. UVB red light therapy followed for my dermatitis diagnosis, though sadly it triggered painful prickly heat and I had to discontinue it. Oral steroids were offered, though side effects meant I chose not to proceed. The impact on my confidence and daily life was huge.
