Treating acne safely and sustainably | A natural approach

When it comes to treating acne, we take things seriously. In recent news, alarming reports have surfaced about a known carcinogen found in many popular acne skincare products.

Benzene has been detected at shockingly high levels in products containing benzoyl peroxide, raising serious concerns about the safety of this widely used ingredient.

Understanding Benzene: What you need to know

Benzene, a colourless and flammable liquid, is commonly used in various industries to manufacture rubbers, dyes, plastics, and pesticides. Within the skincare industry, it is often used to treat acne due to its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. Unfortunately, however, long-term exposure to benzene has been linked to severe health issues, including leukaemia and adverse effects on blood cells.

Recent findings have unveiled benzene contamination in numerous acne products, with levels surpassing safety thresholds by huge margins. Many of these popular skincare brands have addressed the report by stating that their products pose no risk of benzene contamination if stored correctly. However, subsequent investigations have revealed the presence of benzene even when the product remains stable, without exposure to excessive heat or light.
